Learning to Love Your Enemies was a Christian Science talk by Giulia Nesi Tetreau, a Christian Science practitioner, teacher, and member of the Board of Lectureship. This lecture was held on November 8, 2025, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1434 Nashville Avenue, New Orleans, LA. Learning to "love your enemies" can replace anger, hurt, and injustice with forgiveness, freedom and peace.
How to Make Change for the Better was a Christian Science talk by Janet Hegarty, a teacher and practitioner of Christian Science healing and an international speaker. This lecture was held on August 24, 2025, at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, 134 Polk Avenue, New Orleans, LA. The city government asked for prayers of gratitude and hope during services on Sunday, August 24th, in commemoration of Hurricane Katrina's 20th Anniversary, and this lecture was Fourth Church's gift to its neighborhood which had rebounded after the levees broke.
The L. Ivimy Gwalter Story was a film from the Effulgence Foundation about one of the most dynamic workers in the Christian Science movement. Ivimy Gwalter grew up in New York at a demanding time for our country and the world – a world torn by World War I. The film shows how Miss Gwalter’s demonstration of the Science taught by Mary Baker Eddy would contribute to the healing of the country, the reviving of its economy, and bring healing to sufferers during the time of a major pandemic. She was both a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, contributed many articles for the Sentinel and Journal, and became one of the longest serving members of the Christian Science Board of Directors. This talk was held at the Christian Science Church in Covington on November 3, 2024.

Our Lord’s Prayer was an in-person and online talk by Roy Gessford, an Aramaic Scholar. It was held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, 134 Polk Avenue, New Orleans, LA. Roy shared insights on the Lord’s Prayer as examined in three different texts: The King James Version of the Holy Bible; Mary Baker Eddy’s scientific sense from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures; and the original Chaldean Aramaic spoken by Jesus (Peshitta). We also had a separate class in learning how to read and write Chaldean.
Summer 2023 was a perfect time for some zoom seminars. Don Feldheim presented a two-part-workshop on Zoom entitled "Our Bible Lessons: Understanding Them & Reading Them Expressively and Effectively." Then Daniel Carr of The Mother Church led two meetings: "Moving Forward Together as a Church of Healers!"
Angry No More: From Hurt to Health Through Forgiveness was an in-person lecture by Michelle Nanouche, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher from Paris, France. It was held on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 129 E. 23rd Avenue, Covington, LA. Michelle spoke on healing through prayer for those who have felt victimized by their circumstances, trailed by a sad past, or marked by abuse.

Humility that "Overcomes the World" was an in-person and online talk by Mark McCurties, a Christian Science practitioner and member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. It was held on Sunday, September 18th, 2022, at First Church of Christ, Scientist,1434 Nashville Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115. Mark addressed the great need for healing in the world today, and further discussed the Christlike humility which helps us meet that demand.

One of our members visited three of Mary Baker Eddy's homes in New Hampshire operated by Longyear Museum in October 2021. Here is a recording of her presentation given during a Wednesday service.
The National Leadership Council of Discovery Bound met in New Orleans for two weeks in June 2021 to perform service projects in our area. These rising 10th graders from around the United States helped with construction in the 9th Ward, distributed food with a food bank; and planted bulrushes in the marshes. (Louisiana has been losing its wetlands so planting bulrushes is part of a coastal restoration project. This muddy experience was actually a favorite memory of one of the teenagers as she had never been on an airboat skimming along our coastal prairies.) We celebrated being together with a luncheon in our Sunday School; it was such a joy!
